This is an introduction to a case study of soundproof cover enclosures produced by Mitsuya Corporation.
The features of this product include a large inclined surface from the top of the cover housing to the side, and a convex shape in a flat plane. This product is not a mass-produced type like an engine cover (housing) for hydraulic pump units due to its special shape, and it has been newly ordered this time. Therefore, it takes about 8 weeks from the development program to completion, but if it were a similar product, it could be produced in about 4 weeks. This product is basically made by fabricating the overall framework from angle and channel steel materials, and then attaching a cover made from sheet metal processing. After combining the framework from the fabrication process with the cover from the sheet metal processing, the inner surface is cut to match the shape of the soundproofing material, and it is secured and welded in place with SUS punching metal.

basic information
The difficult part of this product is the inclined area. For smaller items, I think the difficulty level is low, but with an incline like this one, measuring during production is challenging due to the dimensions of W3,000, L525, and H850. It cannot be done by one person alone, so it requires two people to measure whether it is being made correctly. Additionally, because the product is large, soundproofing material needs to be attached to the inner surface of the cover housing, and it must be secured with SUS perforated metal, which requires rotating the cover housing multiple times, consuming a lot of time. For the engine cover (housing) for the hydraulic pump unit, it is easier to rotate because there are various fixing jigs due to mass production, but for single items, it is not possible to create jigs, making it not as simple as mass-produced items. Brackets are to be installed inside the inclined area, but since the mounting surface of the brackets needs to be parallel to the ground, the drawings specify a spacing of 100 mm and 150 mm between the brackets. However, when actually installing them, the measurements become three-dimensional, so tools like a square must be used for measurement, and there were areas where precise measurements could not be made. Nevertheless, by considering the compatibility with other parts during production, we were able to achieve a product that is dimensionally accurate to some extent.
