This is an introduction to a case of a machine tool bed frame produced by Mitsuya Corporation.
This case involves embedding a sloped flat oil pan into a square frame made of square pipes with a dimension of 100 mm. Since it serves as the base bed for mounting equipment, a 19 mm thick plate is fixed to the surface of the framed square pipes by welding after machining the flat surface. However, due to warping caused by the welding heat, not all welds are completed. Additionally, there are holes and tapped processing for attaching the equipment on the machined surface, which allows coolant liquid to seep into the frame through gaps between the thick plate and the square pipes, as well as through the holes on the machined surface, causing coolant to accumulate inside the frame. To drain the coolant liquid from inside the frame to the outside, the flat steel plate is fixed with a slope using full welding. There is a discharge hole in the 100 mm square pipe for draining from the sloped oil pan, but if left as is, it would allow entry into the square pipe. Therefore, the discharge hole is fitted with a 50 mm x 20 mm square pipe, and the entrance and exit are fully welded.

basic information
Outside the framework of the welded assembly made of square pipes and thick plates for can manufacturing, coolant fluid is ejected from a device mounted on the machined surface. To prevent coolant fluid from leaking outside, an oil pan made of sheet metal is fully welded on all four sides. Initially, an L-shaped oil pan was planned for installation, but it was anticipated that welding such a shaped oil pan would cause distortion, resulting in an irregular shape. Therefore, the shape of the oil pan was changed to a U-shaped component made of sheet metal, which is more resistant to welding heat and reduces distortion of the oil pan. After all welding processes are completed, the components are delivered to a machining contractor and a painting contractor, both of which are cooperative companies of Mitsuya Co., Ltd., for flatness and hole/tap processing, followed by painting in the specified color.
