Tantalum is a type of rare metal and is an extremely important material in industry. It is commonly used in capacitors, and those called tantalum capacitors are smaller compared to other types of capacitors, have low leakage current, and exhibit good stability. Many tantalum capacitors are used in computers, mobile phones, and small electronic products. Additionally, it is used as a material for artificial bones and dental implants because it is a metal that is harmless to the human body. In other application areas, it is used in high-temperature furnace heaters, containers, lead wires, optical lens materials, and ultra-hard tool materials, making it an important material used across various sectors in the industry. When measuring a sample using our ThermoWave Analyzer TA, the results are as follows: Thermal conductivity (thermal diffusivity) is approximately 58 W/mK (25 mm²/s). *The thermal conductivity is calculated from the measured value of thermal diffusivity and literature values of specific heat and density. The same measurement results have been obtained for tantalum samples with different thicknesses of 10 μm, 30 μm, and 100 μm. With our ThermoWave Analyzer TA, measurements can be taken on materials with anisotropic thermal conductivity using the same workpiece.
