[Case Study of Introducing Ultra-High Temperature Vacuum and Atmosphere Furnaces] Utilization in Reproduction Experiments of Earth's Mantle
An example of the sintering of polycrystalline bodies composed of Mg2SiO4, CaSiO3, and MgO has become possible.
We would like to introduce a case study of the introduction of the ultra-high temperature vacuum and atmosphere furnace "NEWTONIAN Pascal-40" at the High Brightness Light Source Research Center, a public interest incorporated foundation. The center conducts experiments aimed at clarifying the composition and structure of the Earth's mantle, and it was necessary to procure a high-temperature furnace to stably sinter polycrystalline specimens of candidate materials. After the introduction, it became possible to sinter polycrystalline specimens composed of Mg2SiO4, CaSiO3, and MgO as expected, allowing for the preparation of candidate materials for the mantle. 【Case Overview】 ■ Objective: To stably sinter polycrystalline specimens of candidate materials ■ Achievements - Able to heat samples of 1 cm³ size, cooling to below 100°C in about one hour after heating - Sintering of polycrystalline specimens composed of Mg2SiO4, CaSiO3, and MgO became possible - High reproducibility indicates stable performance of the high-temperature furnace *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
