Now, I must admit that after joining the company, I didn't quite understand what everyone meant by "white" and "black." I just accepted that white is white and black is black as I was told. However, one day, I decided to investigate why we say "white" and "black," and this diary is the result of that inquiry. The fittings used to connect pipes are of various types depending on their purpose, specifications, and materials. The term "fitting" (tsugite) is a general term for items that connect pipes, tubes, and hoses. Among them, there are differences in materials called white fittings and black fittings, but as a new employee, my mind was filled with ???. Why is it called white? Why is it called black? After seeing the actual items, I somewhat understood the black one... but the white one... Even though it doesn't look white when I see the actual item, it has a glossy finish... so it completely didn't match my personal image, and I couldn't grasp it, so I decided to look it up. - Material of black fittings: ductile cast iron → As the name suggests, it has a black appearance. - Material of white fittings: general structural rolled steel (SS material) → To prevent rust and corrosion, it is coated with molten zinc on the surface. When unused, it has a glossy surface, but over time it becomes whitish, which is why it is called white fittings. I see!! Of course, the materials used are different, but the unused ones have a glossy finish, and over time they turn white due to aging. That's why they are called white fittings! I was able to learn the origin of the name. I have just barely started, but I want to gradually understand it in my own way. Thank you very much.
