Launch of a new contract analysis service for measuring machine characteristics to support next-generation battery development - Achieving high-precision measurements in the nanometer order without atmospheric exposure.
Our company (hereinafter referred to as "TRC") will start a contract analysis service to measure mechanical properties in micro-regions on the nanometer scale (one billionth of a meter) using high-performance nanoindenters, without exposure to the atmosphere. This will enable high-precision measurement of the properties of materials that deteriorate when exposed to oxygen or moisture in the air, such as lithium-ion batteries, organic EL, and catalyst-related materials. All-solid-state lithium-ion batteries are attracting attention as next-generation batteries, and the mechanical properties of the materials that make up the batteries are crucial for the performance of output and cycle life. We have successfully applied this method to all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries, which require handling without atmospheric exposure, and for the first time in the world, we have obtained the elastic modulus and hardness of active materials and solid electrolytes at any location within the electrode, as well as three-dimensional shape images. By providing accurate information on the mechanical properties of active materials and solid electrolytes, which are essential for the development of stable, safe, and high-performance all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries, we will support the development of new products.
