AOQS - Acousto-Optic Q Switch
For high-power cavity pulse control applications, high-quality optical materials and high-damage-threshold coatings are available. Adding RF output to an acousto-optic Q-switch diverts most of the incident laser light from the main beam path, degrading the Q of the laser cavity. This allows for high gain to be achieved. Coherent AOQS devices feature high modulation loss and low insertion loss.
