【Lecture Overview】 Recently, the promotion of the practical use of software as a medical device (SaMD) has been prominently addressed as a national policy, and the concretization and execution of measures have become urgent issues. Therefore, on September 6, 2023, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry compiled "DASH for SaMD2" as a new strategy. At the same time, the market introduction of medical devices utilizing AI is also accelerating, and various initiatives are underway regarding the use of generative AI in the medical field. It goes without saying that the establishment of an environment for data utilization is crucial for these developments, and steady progress is being made, including the development of the Next-Generation Medical Infrastructure Act.
