【Lecture Overview】 In recent years, there has been growing attention on bio-manufacturing, with predictions that its market size will reach approximately 200 trillion yen by 2030. The driving force behind this is the biofoundry, which utilizes digital technology and robotics to rapidly develop smart cells. On the other hand, in the development of production processes such as culturing and separation purification, particularly at the scale-up development stage, costs and time are significant, creating a bottleneck for social implementation. To address this issue, JGC Holdings has proposed an integrated biofoundry that conducts everything from smart cell development to process development in collaboration with Bacchus Bioinnovation, a biofoundry startup.
