basic information
**Lecture Overview** Offshore wind power generation is being promoted to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The Tohoku region, particularly Akita Prefecture, has stable wind conditions throughout the year, and due to its high potential, development is progressing ahead of other areas in the country. In this context, our Tohoku branch recognizes the need for the local community to firmly benefit from the economic ripple effects of the offshore wind power industry in collaboration with the local Hokuto Bank. In November 2022, we published a proposal report aimed at forming a local industry cluster. In this lecture, we will introduce recent policy trends and the recommendations from the report, as well as provide an update on the current situation in Akita Prefecture, in order to organize the opportunities and challenges for the future introduction of the offshore wind power industry. **Lecture Items** ■ Policy trends regarding offshore wind power generation ■ Organization of the offshore wind power supply chain ■ Initiatives for cluster formation in leading regions, focusing on Akita Prefecture ■ Towards the formation of an offshore wind power-related industry cluster ■ Summary of interviews with stakeholders involved in offshore wind power development in Akita Prefecture ■ Related Q&A ■ Business card and information exchange session
