**Lecture Overview** In this presentation, we will introduce a technology that irradiates semiconductor nanocrystals with visible LED light to decompose perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and Nafion, which are particularly difficult to degrade among PFAS, into fluoride ions. PFOS was completely defluorinated after 8 hours of exposure to 405 nm LED light, resulting in the dissociation of 17,200 C–F bonds per nanocrystal. Nafion also achieved 81% defluorination after 24 hours of exposure, demonstrating high photocatalytic activity under visible light. This reaction proceeds through a complex mechanism involving Auger-induced electron injection mediated by hydrated electrons and high excited states, as well as light-induced ligand exchange.
