Water jet cutting of small pieces for hafnium metal disc additives
Hafnium metal, widely used in control rods for nuclear reactors, jet engine parts, semiconductor materials, etc. This time, we are cutting small pieces for additive materials in the production of special alloys. Due to its high hardness, susceptibility to oxidation, and uneven thickness, water jet cutting was chosen. There are various issues with small piece cutting using our equipment, making continuous processing difficult. However, with some leeway in tolerances, we devised a setting and cutting method to perform continuous cutting of 10mm squares. There were no issues such as abrasive particle embedding on the cutting surface, and after testing and verification of the cutting, we received a formal order. YK Accuracy Co., Ltd.
