【Course Overview】 The GX ETS is scheduled to fully commence operations in 2026, and in preparation for this, a bill to amend the GX Promotion Act was submitted to the National Diet in February 2025, with implementation expected as early as June. This law includes the design of the system regarding the allocation and retirement of emission allowances, as well as the upper and lower price limits for the GX ETS, with more detailed discussions on the system rules to take place after implementation. In this course, we will elaborate on the issues related to the future system design based on the provisions of the GX Promotion Act leading up to the full operation of the GX ETS.
