basic information
**Lecture Overview** International aviation aims for net zero by 2050. However, long-distance aviation faces challenges in electrification, making it a prime example of the so-called "Hard to Abate" sectors. To achieve net zero, it will utilize fuel options such as SAF (sustainable aviation fuel, including biofuels) and synthetic fuels, as well as emissions trading. While fuel options are gaining attention, they come with high costs and other constraints beyond price. The characteristic is the utilization of diverse options, and the question of whether to pass on costs is also an important topic. Japan is also aiming for net zero, but the key lies in balancing this goal with economic considerations. There is likely much to learn from the efforts in international aviation. **Lecture Topics** ■ Efforts in International Aviation (International Framework) ■ Fuel Options ■ Emissions Trading ■ Lessons for GX ETS ■ Related Q&A ■ Business Card and Information Exchange Session
