basic information
**Lecture Overview** In February of the 7th year of Reiwa, we will revise the climate change countermeasure plan and set new reduction targets (NDC) that are ambitious and consistent with the 1.5-degree goal, aiming for a 60% reduction by 2035 and a 73% reduction by 2040 compared to the fiscal year 2013. Achieving both decarbonization and economic growth simultaneously, as well as accelerating GX investments, will be crucial. The trend of reducing CO2 emissions in corporate activities is expanding to encompass reductions across the entire value chain, including Scope 3 reductions. Additionally, there has been a growing demand for information disclosure that includes not only climate-related information but also nature-related information, particularly among large corporations. In this lecture, we will introduce the trends in carbon neutrality both domestically and internationally, discuss why decarbonization management is essential, why supplier engagement is important, and present examples of the Ministry of the Environment's initiatives towards decarbonization, including efforts involving small and medium-sized enterprises. **Lecture Topics** ■ International trends in carbon neutrality ■ Next reduction targets (NDC) and climate change countermeasure plan ■ Trends in sustainability information disclosure and Scope 3 calculations ■ Decarbonization across the entire value chain (model projects) ■ New trends: synergy with biodiversity ■ Related Q&A ■ Business card and information exchange session
