【Lecture Overview】 With the establishment of the revised GX Promotion Act, which was decided by the Cabinet in February this year, significant changes will be implemented in the domestic carbon pricing system, including (1) the mandatory participation in the emissions trading system for businesses that directly emit a certain amount of CO2 (100,000 tons or more), starting from the fiscal year 2026, and (2) the establishment of a fossil fuel levy system, starting from the fiscal year 2028. The introduction of the emissions trading system will require effective utilization of carbon credits.
