basic information
【Lecture Overview】 As interest in global environmental issues and sustainability grows, companies are increasingly promoting sustainable initiatives, including climate change efforts, in their products and services. On the other hand, there are instances where companies engage in advertising, PR, and information disclosure that mislead consumers and investors into believing that their products, services, and corporate structures are environmentally friendly, despite lacking actual substance. This behavior is referred to as "greenwashing." In addition to the EU strengthening regulations on greenwashing, lawsuits have been filed seeking to halt relevant advertisements, making it a significant issue for Japanese companies as well. This seminar will provide a detailed explanation of the overview of greenwashing, domestic and international regulations, and problematic cases, as well as the responses that companies should adopt moving forward. 【Lecture Items】 ■ What is greenwashing? ■ Examples of problematic greenwashing cases ■ Regulations related to greenwashing ■ Responses companies should take regarding greenwashing ■ Related Q&A session ■ Business card and information exchange meeting ~ Attendance by members of law firms is not permitted ~
