Introducing a case where the issue of eliminating transfer to the film due to scratches on the roll surface and improving wear resistance for long-term use was solved with coating!
In the film sheet stretching process, even minor scratches on the roll surface are not permitted. Therefore, the "polishing" of the surface of the stretching roll becomes very important, and a high hardness that makes it difficult to scratch is required. We will introduce a case where our ceramic thermal spraying has solved this problem by improving wear resistance, reducing the transfer of scratches on the roll surface to the film, and enhancing release properties. ■Challenge To eliminate the transfer of scratches from the roll surface to the film and further improve wear resistance for longer usage. ■Proposal To improve wear resistance with a high hardness coating from ceramic thermal spraying, provide surface roughness polishing (from sub-mirror to super mirror) using NCI's unique finishing technology, and since recoating is possible after use, we proposed that we can finish and provide a reproducible surface roughness multiple times. ■Effect The lifespan was extended, the repair cycle became longer, maintenance costs were significantly reduced, and it contributed to increased productivity, which was greatly appreciated.

NCI introduced the core technology of the ceramic thermal spraying, the Low-Cry process, in Japan for the first time, and for half a century, it has supported rocket development. NCI has consistently pursued the Low-Cry process, leading and evolving ceramic thermal spraying. Thanks to the know-how of the Low-Cry process, it is possible to provide outstanding functions and quality, such as plasma, hybrid, high-speed flame, and surface patterns. NCI's thermal spraying technology is widely utilized in advanced technology fields, offering high-quality solutions unique to NCI.
