basic information
【Lecture Overview】 In achieving the global challenge of a circular economy, the recycling of plastics, alongside metals, is an urgent issue. In our country, the goal is to realize zero simple incineration and landfill by 2035. Currently, approximately 8 million tons of plastic are being discarded, with polyolefins, represented by polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene, accounting for about 70% of this amount. Additionally, various recycling technologies, including PET, are required. This lecture will focus particularly on chemical recycling technologies, discussing trends both domestically and internationally, and including the results of the NEDO waste plastic resource development project that we implemented until fiscal year 2024. It will also explain the technical and social challenges necessary to realize plastic recycling. 【Lecture Items】 ■Introduction ■Trends in domestic and international chemical recycling ■Development of chemical recycling technologies ■Future challenges ■Related Q&A ■Business card and information exchange session
