This seminar will systematically organize policies related to carbon pricing, such as the Emissions Trading System (GX-ETS), Environmental Tax, and J-Credit System, and explain the latest trends, historical developments, and future directions based on similar cases. In February 2025, a cabinet decision was made to amend the GX Promotion Act, legalizing the Emissions Trading System (GX-ETS). It has been approved and enacted by the House of Councillors. This fiscal year, detailed design of the emissions trading system will progress in preparation for its launch in fiscal 2026. The content of the amendment to the GX Promotion Act (rules, schedule, etc.) will be explained.
