CFRP recycling technology using electrolytic sulfuric acid solution
We will introduce a case study on the application of conductive diamond technology for a recycling technique that dissolves the resin component of CFRP to extract carbon fibers. CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) is lightweight and has high strength, making it widely used in the manufacturing of aircraft and automobiles. While the demand for this material is expected to grow as it contributes to weight reduction and improved fuel efficiency, a significant number of products that have reached the end of their life cycle are currently disposed of in landfills, which poses a challenge. Several recycling technologies have already been proposed, but they have high energy and environmental burdens and are not yet sufficient recycling solutions. Electrolytic sulfuric acid technology can dissolve the resin component of CFRP with low energy consumption, achieving a recycling technique with low environmental impact.
