basic information
**Lecture Overview** Organic metal halide perovskite solar cells, commonly referred to as perovskite solar cells, are highly anticipated as next-generation solar cells that can be manufactured using domestically sourced materials and can be installed in various locations across Japan due to their lightweight nature. The energy conversion efficiency of small-area cells at the laboratory level is approaching 27%, and the practical application of large-area modules is also progressing. The government supports research and development through initiatives such as the Green Innovation Fund, and the 7th Basic Energy Plan, which was approved by the Cabinet in February of this year, explicitly states a goal of introducing 20 gigawatts of perovskite solar cells by 2040. This lecture will provide a detailed explanation of the current status and prospects of research and development in perovskite solar cells. **Lecture Topics** ■ What are perovskite solar cells? ■ Reasons for the expectations surrounding perovskite solar cells ■ Types and characteristics of perovskite solar cells ■ Trends in research and development of perovskite solar cells ■ The future of energy utilization opened up by perovskite solar cells ■ Related Q&A ■ Business card and information exchange session
