basic information
**Lecture Overview** The current supply instability of pharmaceuticals, particularly generic drugs, is rooted in the inefficient manufacturing system of the generic drug industry, characterized by small-batch production of a wide variety of products. This instability has been exacerbated by a decrease in supply from pharmaceutical companies triggered by violations of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act, as well as various factors such as outbreaks of infectious diseases. Therefore, to ensure a stable supply of pharmaceuticals, it is necessary to address both the immediate supply concerns and the medium- to long-term challenges. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has been working to address the current supply instability by encouraging pharmaceutical companies to increase production and providing subsidies for the establishment of production systems, while also promoting structural reforms in the generic drug industry to tackle medium- to long-term issues. In this presentation, I will explain the current state of stable pharmaceutical supply and the government's initiatives related to it. **Lecture Topics** - Current status of stable pharmaceutical supply and initiatives to ensure stability - Response to immediate supply concerns - Structural reforms in the generic drug industry - Strengthening the pharmaceutical supply chain - Generic drugs and biosimilars - Related Q&A - Business card and information exchange session
