This seminar will systematically organize policies related to carbon pricing, such as the Emissions Trading System (GX-ETS), Environmental Tax, and J-Credit System, and will explain the latest trends as well as future directions based on past developments and similar cases. In May 2025, the revised GX Promotion Act was enacted, legalizing the Emissions Trading System (GX-ETS). Currently, detailed design of the system is underway in preparation for the start of the emissions trading system in fiscal year 2026. 【Lecture Overview】 J-Credit is expected to serve as an environmental value product in response to carbon pricing policies. This lecture will cover the outline of the J-Credit system, including application requirements, recent market trends (supply and demand, Tokyo Stock Exchange market, government sales), as well as market trends for competing products such as non-fossil certificates. The J-Credit system is seeing an increase in group-type applications (program-type applications) and forest absorption credits, leading to significant changes in the types of credits.
