【Lecture Overview】 Since the introduction of the FIT (Feed-in Tariff) system for renewable energy in 2012, biomass power generation has significantly developed in Japan. However, in recent years, there have been increasing cases where the continuation of projects is threatened due to instability in fuel supply and rising costs, leading to decreased profitability. Additionally, there are concerns regarding the reuse and repurposing of facilities after the FIT application period ends. On the other hand, the 7th Basic Energy Plan continues to position biomass power generation as an important source of renewable energy.
