Akulon is a high-performance PA66 (polyamide 66) material portfolio developed by Envalior, designed to deliver stable mechanical performance and long-term durability under elevated temperatures. Compared with PA6, Akulon offers superior heat resistance, stiffness, and creep resistance, making it suitable for applications exposed to more demanding operating conditions. Available in unreinforced, glass-fiber-reinforced, flame-retardant, impact-modified, and hydrolysis-resistant grades, Akulon enables optimized material selection for a wide range of applications. Akulon is based on PA66 chemistry and is available in unreinforced, glass-fiber-reinforced (GF15–50%), flame-retardant, impact-modified, and hydrolysis-resistant grades. Mechanically, Akulon provides a tensile strength of approximately 80 MPa in unreinforced grades and exceeds 200 MPa in glass-fiber-reinforced grades, maintaining high stiffness and low creep even at elevated temperatures. This makes it suitable for load-bearing and fastening applications requiring long-term dimensional stability. Thermally, Akulon features a high melting point of around 260 °C and superior heat deflection temperatures compared with PA6. It offers a wide continuous-use temperature range and excellent resistance to thermal aging and heat cycling. In terms of environmental resistance, Akulon shows good resistance to oils, fuels, coolants, and various chemicals. Hydrolysis-resistant grades maintain stable properties even under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions. Akulon also provides excellent electrical insulation performance, with UL94 V-0 flame-retardant and CTI-rated grades available for electrical and electronic applications. Its good injection-molding processability ensures high dimensional accuracy and consistent quality in mass production.
