Akulon is based on PA66 chemistry and is available in unreinforced, glass-fiber-reinforced (GF15–50%), flame-retardant, impact-modified, and hydrolysis-resistant grades. Mechanically, Akulon provides a tensile strength of approximately 80 MPa in unreinforced grades and exceeds 200 MPa in glass-fiber-reinforced grades, maintaining high stiffness and low creep even at elevated temperatures. This makes it suitable for load-bearing and fastening applications requiring long-term dimensional stability. Thermally, Akulon features a high melting point of around 260 °C and superior heat deflection temperatures compared with PA6. It offers a wide continuous-use temperature range and excellent resistance to thermal aging and heat cycling. In terms of environmental resistance, Akulon shows good resistance to oils, fuels, coolants, and various chemicals. Hydrolysis-resistant grades maintain stable properties even under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions. Akulon also provides excellent electrical insulation performance, with UL94 V-0 flame-retardant and CTI-rated grades available for electrical and electronic applications. Its good injection-molding processability ensures high dimensional accuracy and consistent quality in mass production.
