HALAR (made of ECTFE) sleeves are used in applications where flammability, high-temperature durability, and low outgassing are emphasized. The HALAR (made of ECTFE) sleeves are braided from 11 mil (0.2794 mm) ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE) copolymer monofilament, and due to their low flammability and smoke generation, they comply with UL 2024 and NFPA 262 plenum specifications, meet UL flammability standards of VW-1, and satisfy FMVSS 302 automotive industry requirements, as well as FAR 25 aviation industry requirements. They are also resistant to a wide range of corrosive chemicals, including strong acids, chlorine, and aqueous corrosives, as well as organic solvents. Additionally, they maintain useful properties even when exposed to up to 200 megarad of cobalt-60 radiation.
