Acetylated Sodium Hyaluronate (AcHA) is a cosmetic moisturizing ingredient that introduces acetyl groups to sodium hyaluronate. The addition of acetyl groups enhances lipophilicity and increases affinity and adsorption to the skin, resulting in stronger adherence to the stratum corneum compared to conventional hyaluronic acid, with the ability to retain moisture for an extended period. Due to its relatively small molecular weight, it easily penetrates the stratum corneum and forms a uniform film on the skin surface, preventing dryness and leading to soft and smooth skin. Additionally, due to the properties of the acetyl groups, its moisture retention capacity is said to be about twice that of typical hyaluronic acid, providing excellent moisture longevity.
