Pins serve as circuit terminals by being inserted into the PCB (DIP) or soldered through surface mounting (SMT). Additionally, they help secure space between multiple boards and provide vertical and horizontal fixation of several boards by being sandwiched between them. Sockets are inserted into the PCB (DIP) or soldered through surface mounting (SMT), functioning as the receiving side for inserting (removing) pins to connect circuits. They are also used to secure space between boards and to fix boards together, similar to pins.
