The ring-shaped items for inner and outer diameters are called Master Rings, while the block-shaped items for height and width are referred to as Master Blocks. The method of measurement that seeks the difference from this standard gauge is called comparative measurement. It is also possible to reuse Master Rings by modifying (remaking) their diameter dimensions.
