High performance of the food inspection becquerel counter! Detection of weak light enabled by MPPC installation.
We would like to introduce a case where a "Becquerel counter for food" was manufactured as a radiation detector for food inspection. Due to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, radioactive substances were found in a wide range of food products. In response to this situation, monitoring was conducted in accordance with the "Manual for Measuring Radioactivity in Food during Emergencies" for general food items. In light of this trend, as the demand for measuring radioactive cesium concentration in food increased, our product was equipped with a Becquerel counter that combines CsI(Tl) scintillator and MPPC. By 2024, a total of 27 units of this product have been delivered. 【Features of the Becquerel Counter for Food】 ■ Improved measurement accuracy through optimization of the CsI crystal shape ■ Flexible response to customer needs and proposals for suitable technical designs ■ Capability for small-lot production of various types *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

I.S.C.Lab. Co., Ltd. is a venture company that develops and manufactures sodium iodide crystals and cesium iodide crystals, which are key components of radiation detectors. The large cesium iodide crystals currently under development are being applied in radiation measurement devices for use in food and other areas. Additionally, the technology for ultra-purification and scaling up of sodium iodide crystals that our company is developing is expected to be applied in the detection of cosmic dark matter, which has previously been considered impossible to detect.
