1. Cold resistance refers to an indicator of how much a material's properties (such as flexibility) remain unchanged and functional without cracking in low-temperature environments, in contrast to "heat resistance," which indicates durability in high-temperature environments. 2. Measures to enhance cold resistance: Material selection: Use materials with fine crystalline structures that are less likely to crack at low temperatures, such as linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), metallocene-based PE, EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer), and elastomers. Multilayer structure (team play): When a single material cannot suffice, combine "cold-resistant layers" through co-extrusion, for example: an outer layer for impact resistance, a middle layer for barrier properties, and an inner layer for cold resistance and sealing properties. Modification agents: Incorporate cold-resistant modifiers into materials that tend to become brittle, such as PP and PA (polyamide), to enhance flexibility. 3. Applications and importance: This is crucial in packaging for frozen foods and labels for vending machines used outdoors in winter. It is not only necessary to prevent cracking but also to maintain adhesion and sealing properties at low temperatures.
