Technical Data: Voltammetry (VA) - Measurement of Selenium in Drinking Water
Voltammetry (VA) - Polarography
Direct measurement of selenium in the low μg/L range using voltammetry and scTRACE Gold electrodes.
The difference between the toxicity of selenium and its essential level is very subtle. Therefore, the current provisional guideline value for selenium (IV) in the World Health Organization's "Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality" and the European Drinking Water Directive is set at a maximum concentration of 10 μg/L. Voltammetry techniques conducted on non-denatured scTRACE Gold electrodes can be used to measure selenium concentrations as low as 0.5 μg/L. These lower limits can be further reduced by increasing the deposition time. The linear range at a deposition time of 30 seconds ends at approximately 100 μg/L.
