[Seminar] Risk Management of Battery Fires in Power Systems and "Time-Series" Emergency Response Practices
A must-see for battery system operators!
With the spread of renewable energy, the introduction of battery storage systems is accelerating in countries around the world, and in Japan, the consideration of grid-connected battery storage systems is heating up. On the other hand, fire incidents involving battery storage systems continue to occur globally, and 2025 has seen a series of fire incidents involving battery storage systems from the American company TESLA, which are believed to be of the same type, happening for three consecutive months, making it a topic of ongoing discussion. 【Seminar Details】 ■ Date and Time: March 13, 2026 (Friday) 13:30 - 15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Venue: JPI Conference Square ■ Address: 5-2-32 Minamiazabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Kowa Hiroo Building ■ Participation Method: In-person, live streaming, archived streaming ■ Lecturer: Tokyo Electric Power Holdings, Inc. basic information
**Lecture Overview** In Japan, changes have been observed, such as the revision of certain regulations, due to the significant number of victims resulting from a battery fire incident in Isa City, Kagoshima Prefecture. While it is crucial to prevent such fire incidents from occurring, manufacturing defects or accidental failures in industrial products like batteries can happen with a certain probability, and in the case of lithium-ion batteries, which have self-ignition characteristics, the likelihood of a fire occurring is high. Therefore, this time, we will clearly explain in chronological order the preparations that battery facility owners and operators should make in case of a fire, as well as how to respond during an actual fire incident. By implementing these measures, we aim to reduce the increasing risk of accidents specific to lithium-ion batteries and achieve long-term equipment safety and operational efficiency. **Lecture Items** ■ Global fire incident cases (2025) and regulatory amendments ■ Risk analysis during battery fires (equipment, human body, environment, etc.) ■ Response methods to battery fire risks ■ Introduction to chronological responses in actual equipment operations ■ Summary ■ Related Q&A ■ Business card and information exchange meeting
