【Lecture Overview】 Saga City has pioneered the introduction of CCU (Carbon Dioxide Capture and Utilization) ahead of the rest of the country, utilizing CO2 contained in the exhaust gases of its waste treatment plant for agricultural purposes. Additionally, in recent years, the city has actively pursued the development of new applications, such as formulating the Saga City Green Promotion Strategy and obtaining international certification as Green CO2. Furthermore, as part of a project commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment, the city has been accepting locally unused biomass as fuel for the waste treatment plant, conducting demonstration research on stable combustion and the safety of exhaust gases, and simultaneously exploring sustainable operational systems that contribute to the stable operation of the waste treatment plant and the resolution of local issues.
