basic information
**Lecture Overview** We, Nichimou Co., Ltd., have a history of about 45 years, starting with the farming of silver salmon in Miyagi Prefecture. Although this is a silver salmon farming business in Miyagi Prefecture, the recent rise in seawater temperatures has led to instability in both the farming period and production volume. In fact, this issue is not limited to silver salmon farming; it has also exposed the farming of yellowtail and sea bream, primarily in western Japan, to unstable production environments due to recent environmental changes. In response, we have focused on land-based aquaculture since 2020, collaborating with Kyushu Electric Power and others to establish Fish Farm Mirai LLC, a land-based aquaculture business. We began selling Mirai Salmon in 2023, and we are currently achieving stable production and receiving high evaluations from our customers. In this lecture, we will elaborate on the significance of land-based aquaculture, the challenges it faces, and the key points for its success, focusing on our past experiences of failure. **Lecture Topics** - History of aquaculture and current issues - The background and current status of our land-based aquaculture business (including stories of failures) - Conditions for leading land-based aquaculture to success - Nichimou's vision for the future of land-based aquaculture - Related Q&A - Business card and information exchange session
