My encounter with extrusion molding as an instructor happened right after I joined the company. I remember being quite confused as I had just graduated from university and plastics (polymers) were not my area of expertise. At that time, the senior employees used a "learn by watching" approach, and there were no technical explanations provided. It felt like the transmission of a craftsman's skills. This course aims to convey technical common sense to engineers who are engaging with extrusion molding for the first time. Titled "Introduction to Precision Extrusion Molding Technology," it will cover an overview of polymer materials and single-screw extruders, specific examples of molding defects encountered in practice and their concrete countermeasures, as well as analyses using CAE. In particular, the instructor will carefully address the participants' questions regarding the examples of countermeasures for molding defects and troubleshooting presented in the program, providing strong support for solving on-site challenges. I hope that this course will not only provide knowledge of extrusion molding but also serve as an entry point into extrusion technology and molding processing science, helping to address the questions of beginners and young engineers.
