It is possible to insolubilize fluoride in gypsum.
The fluoride in gypsum is more difficult to immobilize than the fluoride in soil, but it can be immobilized below environmental standards by using supermagnetite.

basic information
Regarding the Insolubilization of Fluorine in Gypsum Our company has been conducting research on the solidification of dihydrate gypsum and hemihydrate gypsum, as well as the insolubilization of fluorine, for a long time within the Gypsum Board Recycling Research Group. We have performed various leaching tests on fluorine using different insolubilization agents, but none have met environmental standards. In particular, dihydrate gypsum tends to be more difficult to insolubilize compared to hemihydrate gypsum. By adding a small amount of the powder fluorine insolubilization agent Super Magnecloze to dihydrate gypsum and stirring for just five minutes, we achieved results in the fluorine leaching test that were well below environmental standards. Example of Fluorine Insolubilization When 5% Super Magnecloze was added to crushed and separated dihydrate gypsum and stirred, the fluorine leaching amount of 6.9 mg/L from the dihydrate gypsum was reduced to 0.45 mg/L after insolubilization treatment, thus meeting environmental standards.

FSC Method Examples of Using Hemihydrate Gypsum When 4% Super Magnecloze is added to hemihydrate gypsum and stirred, fluoride can be reduced to below environmental standards, but the pH becomes weakly alkaline due to the influence of Super Magnecloze. Since hemihydrate gypsum is neutral, if it is to be used as a neutral solidifying agent, a pH adjusting agent called Control Soil is necessary to bring the pH to neutral. Using a mixture of 4% Super Magnecloze and 20% Control Soil added to red soil with a pH of 7.7, we measured the elapsed time for up to three days after mixing at a rate of 150 kg/m3. The measurement method was JGS0211-2000. The pH immediately after treatment was 9.2, after one day it was 8.8, after two days it was 8.4, and after three days it became neutral at 7.8. The usefulness of Control Soil was confirmed.

Our company is small, but we have applied for patents for electric dust collectors and sludge solidification treatment devices. Currently, we are providing environmental purification technology consulting based on cutting-edge environmental purification technologies, and we are involved in the development and planning of environmental purification devices. We have also developed and are selling environmental purification products, including the dioxin removal coagulant Ultra Separate SDS, the heavy metal removal coagulant Ultra Separate S300, and the turbidity coagulant Ultra Separate MC, which is effective for a wide range of applications from organic wastewater treatment to the purification of lake water quality. Additionally, we are currently selling a dihydrate gypsum semi-hydration device that can convert waste gypsum boards after crushing and separation into recyclable raw materials. We are also developing solidifying agents for soil conditioners, high-moisture sludge, and heavy metal-containing sludge using the semi-hydrated gypsum produced from the dihydrate gypsum semi-hydration device, and we plan to sell these as well. We intend to continue developing products and items based on environmental purification technology in the future.
