ArtCAM combines CAD functionality that allows for the easy creation of models that traditional mechanical CAD/CAM software struggles with, based on designs and images, with CAM functionality that supports 2D shapes and 3D models. It can import CAD data such as DXF and IGES, as well as design data from programs like Illustrator and image data, making it one of the few CAM software capable of creating high-quality models for embossing and generating NC machining paths.

- 3D models can be created based on image data from illustrators and scanned data from hand-drawn manuscripts. - Color photographs are automatically converted to scale, with their density becoming the height variations in the 3D relief. - It is possible to read and write vector data such as DXF from 2D CAD and EPS as contour boundary lines of illustration data. - Relief data can be imported from surface data in IGES or VDA format created with 3D CAD (optional). - Data output from 3D measuring devices and data from Roland D.G. measuring instruments can be imported (please check compatible models). - EPS and AI data can be directly imported.
