Linear displacement/positioning sensor for machine tools

MTS Sensors has released the 5th generation Temposonics R series. The new R series V continues the success of previous generations of sensors by adding new features and tools to expand user benefits. With its new features and tools, the R series V is an ideal sensor for Industry 4.0 applications. It is currently available in two styles: rod style and profile style, both equipped with Profinet and EtherNet/IP outputs. This industrial Ethernet sensor adopts a housing that is 37% smaller than traditional housings, allowing for more compact applications compared to previous generation sensors. The new sensor is more robust and reliable than ever, with improvements in components that have expanded the operating temperature range to -40°C to +85°C, and enhanced shock resistance to 150g and vibration resistance to 30g. The expanded supply voltage range makes it easier to integrate the sensor into more demanding applications, providing accurate measurement data of up to 0.5μm.

We have added CANbus output to the T-series linear displacement sensor developed for applications in hazardous areas, and obtained certification for the Japanese and Russian markets. This T-series CANbus output has received ATEX and IECEx certification and is certified based on NEC and CEC. Therefore, it can be applied to hazardous areas classified as Class I, II, III, Division 1, 2, Group A, B, C, D, E, F, G, as well as Zone 0/1, 21, and 22. With the addition of explosion-proof certification applicable to the Japanese and Russian markets, this sensor can now be installed in hazardous areas and applications in these regions.

The traditional Temposonics E Series ET start/stop sensor has been enhanced with new interfaces, including analog and SSI. It is also now certified with IECEx, NEC, and CEC. With the addition of these interfaces and certifications, customers in many regions can use this sensor for hazardous area applications in Classes I, II, III - Division 2 - Groups A, B, C, D, F, G, Zones 2, and 22.
