In recent years, the increasing size of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and LCD manufacturing equipment has made it difficult to accommodate with conventional facilities. Therefore, our company has expanded the electroless nickel plating tank on aluminum, and we have newly established equipment that can now process products with effective dimensions of 1200mm × 1100mm × 500mm. Aluminum tends to form an oxide film, making direct plating difficult. By using double zincate treatment for plating on aluminum, we can achieve good adhesion. Additionally, plating can provide various functionalities such as corrosion resistance, a high-quality appearance, and hardness.

**Overview** Aluminum is expanding its field of application from everyday products to various industrial sectors. This is because aluminum can be lightweight, with a specific gravity of 2.7, which is about one-third that of iron or copper materials, and has a high specific strength, making it suitable for various structural materials. By applying electroless nickel plating to aluminum, it is possible to form a uniform film thickness across the entire component, and by performing heat treatment after plating, the Vickers hardness can be increased to about HV800. Currently, there is a demand for electroless nickel plating treatment on large aluminum structures, and our company has prepared a dedicated large electroless nickel plating line for aluminum to meet this need. This line has two plating tanks with dimensions of 2,000×1,000 mm and a depth of 3,000 mm, allowing for plating of aluminum products with a maximum effective size of 1,800×950×2,500 mm.
