[Background] In May 2010, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced that, from the perspective of preventing accidents, items that have seen an increase in accidents in recent years and items expected to spread rapidly would be subject to regulation under the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law within the current fiscal year. LED light bulbs and LED base lights, which have previously been excluded from regulation under the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law, will be added as regulated items under this ministerial ordinance revision as "electronic light-emitting lamps (tentative name)" and "electronic light-emitting lighting fixtures (tentative name)."
