Precision sheet metal processing by Kyowa Industries.
Our precision sheet metal processing technology surpasses the emerging precision sheet metal processing technologies of East Asian countries in three aspects: (1) speed, (2) cost, and (3) environmental friendliness. Typically, molds that cost between 500,000 to 1,000,000 yen and have a lead time of 3 to 4 weeks can be made in China for 100,000 yen with a lead time of 2 to 3 weeks. However, at our company, we can complete them for 60,000 yen with a lead time of just 3 to 4 days. Naturally, this short lead time also results in CO2 emissions during development being less than a quarter of what they would normally be. If the same cost and time are invested, it becomes possible to repeat prototypes several times, thereby increasing accuracy. <Technology for forming shapes without a die: "Pressless Forming Method"> The new technology we have developed, called 'Pressless Forming' (sheet metal forming without using a press), combines the craftsmanship of sheet metal processing we have cultivated over many years, our unique layered technology, and the technology for forming without a die. This method, also known as "Shibori Sheet Metal" or "Pressless Shibori," is ideal for prototypes, custom products, small lot items, and products or parts that have already been discarded due to obsolete molds.

basic information
We can manufacture shapes that were previously thought impossible with existing press molds, such as precision sheet metal parts for prototype devices. Please feel free to consult us about the shapes you desire. Whether large or small, we can handle them with ease. The depth of drawing can reach 300mm! This is ten times deeper than the conventional temporary molds, which had a limit of 20 to 30mm.

Applications/Examples of results
In precision device prototyping, various forms of products are used in response to different requests. ● I want a small lot of embossed shapes. ● I want to consider making the final mold after observing customer trends. ● I don't want to make the final mold yet as design changes may be considered for the product. ● I want to create a prototype to check the embossing strength. ● I want embossed products or parts from discarded molds. ● I want to try a slightly unusual shape. ● I want to integrate two or more parts into an embossed shape.

In 2009, we were selected as one of the "300 Energetic Manufacturing SMEs" by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. This recognition was for our unique technology, the "Pressless Forming Method" (a die-less drawing sheet metal technology). It is a completely new concept that integrates the craftsmanship in sheet metal processing that we have cultivated over many years with our research on laminated die technology and the technique of performing embossing without using a die. Our company operates under the concept that "designers want things when they think of them." Typically, to confirm the shape of an object conceived by a designer, a temporary die can be created at half the cost of a production die. Recently, more affordable laminated dies have started to become popular, but they are used for relatively shallow embossing. The cost of these dies is about one-third of that of a production die, and the time required for die production is approximately 10 days to 2 weeks for both types. With our "Pressless Forming Method," the cost equivalent to a die is one-sixth of that of a production die and less than half of the cost of the cheapest laminated die. Although the method has constraints that prevent vertical drawing relative to the plane, it is characterized by a "speed" that allows product manufacturing in about 2 to 4 days. The cost is calculated as time multiplied by the labor rate. This technology enables quick and low-cost production for lots of 50 or fewer. Our clients have expressed their satisfaction, noting that they were able to conduct three times the experiments in the same period.
