This document introduces a case study that addresses challenges in the shot blasting process for zinc automotive parts. In the hanger-type shot blasting, shot pellets are sprayed from above, and they hit the design surface, causing pellets with a diameter of φ0.40 or larger to get stuck in the recesses of the text area, which has a width of 0.45. Since the areas where the pellets get stuck are not consistent, it was necessary to check the entire text area. By creating and modifying a jig that allows for shot blasting directed downward onto the design surface, we resolved the issue of pellet blockage on the design surface. This is a wet blast unit that can be combined with a dry blast device. The abrasive material is moistened to the extent that almost no water remains on the ground after blasting. Drying begins immediately after blasting. It can be attached and used with conventional air blast devices. The nozzle adapter at hand allows for ON/OFF control of the water flow and fine adjustments of the water volume. By fine-tuning, the water flow can be narrowed down to 100-200 CC/min. Water is pressurized (10:1) with a plunger pump and injected at high pressure. It is also suitable for long-distance blasting (300m or more). Rust inhibitors can be used in conjunction. A separate diaphragm pump allows for the use of stored water from tanks, etc.

We would like to introduce a case study that addresses the issues faced by our customer in glass manufacturing. They were troubled by the problem of rust forming on the cast parts used to protect the furnace heaters, which caused rust to fall and adhere to the products. In response, we proposed on-site work using a "sponge jet," which involves blasting a media that contains aluminum oxide particles, a polishing material, encapsulated in a special urethane sponge. As a result, since there was almost no dust generated, it was possible to work without affecting the surrounding area by simply enclosing the workspace, and all processing was completed in one day without damaging the parts.
