[BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Transformation of North Sea Oil Field Platform Construction

Efficient design and manufacturing automation! Achieving advanced automation in the design and manufacturing processes!

The two platforms of the Johan Sverdrup oil field are designed and manufactured by the Norwegian company Aibel. Currently, the company's massive project is transitioning from a shipyard in the tropical region of Thailand to the rough seas of the North Sea. This project faced challenges such as compliance with standard requirements in the oil and gas industry and the integration of Tekla software with existing solutions. To address these challenges, experts in three-dimensional design using Tekla software collaborated to successfully semi-automate the drawing creation process with Tekla. They generated accurate information in a data format suitable for collaboration with machine tools, achieving up to 95% efficiency in the company's production labor and quality. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case] Guacolda Coal-Fired Power Generation Facility

Introducing examples of overcoming communication barriers such as time differences, distance, and different languages!

We would like to introduce the construction of coal-fired power generation facilities in the Republic of Chile, South America, which Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. received an order for in 2006. Chile, the manufacturing site, is located exactly on the opposite side of the Earth from Japan. The time difference, geographical distance, and different languages pose significant obstacles to information communication in design, manufacturing operations, and their process management. To address this, the company utilized "Tekla Structures" to accumulate and manage all information from design to manufacturing within a single 3D model. By doing so, they maintained consistency of information between the design site in Japan and the manufacturing site in Chile, aiming to reduce rework and inconsistencies in design and manufacturing operations. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] 2020 Dubai International Expo

Easily coordinate with other stakeholders! Here is an example of how we solved challenges with "Tekla Structures."

We would like to introduce a case study of BIM software implementation at the "2020 Dubai International Expo Mobility Pavilion." In this project, Tiger Steel was responsible for everything from the detailed design and fabrication of the steel structure, including the examination of joints, to construction. The three-dimensional structure and complex joints were very challenging, but this was resolved by using "Tekla Structures." The biggest advantage of using this software is that it makes coordination with other stakeholders easier. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: The three-dimensional structure and complex joints were very difficult. ■ Result: This was resolved by using Tekla Structures. ■ Benefit: Coordination with other stakeholders became easier. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case] Blue Lock Quarry

Achieving great results even in challenging projects between remote locations through the use of Tekla Structure!

Fulton Hogan Quarries undertook a project to renovate the crushing and screening plant at the Blue Rock Quarry located in Cedar Creek, Queensland, Australia. The Blue Rock Quarry is situated approximately 50 km south of Brisbane's city center. The objective of this project was to expand the production capacity of the crushing and screening plant to meet the anticipated increase in demand for aggregate and road base products. Proindustrial Construction Company (Portugal) closely collaborated with contractors NascoTech and Southern Cross Engineering to carry out the civil works and structural design of the steel structures for this complex facility. The company was also responsible for creating various types of drawings and documents used in steel fabrication, including detailed designs for connections and joints, as well as shop drawings. Although this was a challenging project that required design collaboration between remote locations in Australia and Portugal, significant achievements were made thanks to the use of Tekla Structure and the dedicated efforts of the participating team members.

[BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Karasuma Racecourse Redevelopment Project

Tekla is effective for designing buildings with large curves! Examples from redevelopment projects such as spectator stands.

The redevelopment of the Karasuyama Racecourse is a project to construct world-class facilities. The company responsible for the project is handling everything from design to detailed design, manufacturing, and the construction of the main viewing stand roof using a 45-meter cantilever beam. The very complex roof shape had significant restrictions on deflection and allowable tolerances, but by utilizing "BIM" and "Tekla Structures," they conducted precise detailed design that considered the use of fabrication drawings. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: The very complex roof shape had significant restrictions on deflection and allowable tolerances. ■ Results - Achieved precise detailed design that considered the use of fabrication drawings. - Tekla is very effective for designing buildings with large curves, like the Karasuyama Racecourse. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Pasila District Development Project

Utilizing modeled information extensively in the production plan! Achieving impressive facade architecture.

Tripla is a large-scale project located in the Pasila district, consisting of a mixed-use area in Block 3, which includes the construction of the Tripla Mall, offices, apartments, hotels, and the renovation of Pasila Station. The success of the project can be attributed to the open attitude of all stakeholders towards BIM and digitalization, adopting an experimental approach. Various software products and technologies have been tested and utilized in the project. In cases where existing solutions are not available, custom solutions and methods have been established to support this large-scale development project. The construction of the BIM model and model-based visualization played a crucial role not only in negotiations among various stakeholders but also in marketing. [Case Overview] ■Challenge: The enormous data size of the design model ■Response: Dividing the model into units and separating the published model and documentation from the actual building's solid model *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Denver International Airport Expansion Project

All stakeholders use Tekla to achieve efficient collaboration! Case study on the introduction of BIM software.

At Denver International Airport, the construction of a new train station connecting downtown to the airport and a hotel is underway. The design of this hotel, including its curved roof, evokes the image of an airplane when viewed as a whole. To achieve this exterior, which consists of many curved surfaces and intricate parts, technology was required to accurately process various complexly bent shapes of plates. Therefore, the project team set it up so that the coordinate location information output from "Tekla Structures" is automatically displayed on each fabrication drawing. This made precise processing possible. By having all stakeholders use Tekla, it has become easier for team members to carry out various tasks such as planning, data exchange, and defect corrections, thereby achieving efficient collaboration. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Agora Evry Arena

Even when faced with unexpected challenges, it became possible to continue working by utilizing Tekla Model Sharing.

This construction is a renovation project for the Agora Evry Arena, which was built as an auditorium in 1970. At that time, it was a complex project that required high technical skills, and the expertise of the Bordan Châtauneuf team was necessary for the construction. The first challenge of this project was to recreate the design model of the existing building from scratch in order to add a new structure. The modeling was based on a manual created by Bordan Châtauneuf in 1970. Using point cloud data obtained from a 3D scan of the existing structure, the components were adjusted by a few centimeters. It was confirmed that the measured point cloud data had position information very close to that of the actual building. This "research" faced several unexpected challenges, but despite the difficulties, it became possible to continue working by utilizing Tekla ModelSharing.
