Basic Knowledge of X-ray Inspection Machines: Adjustment Techniques to Eliminate Misjudgments
Explanation of "Noise Reduction" and "Detection Limit" in X-ray Inspection Machines!
When X-rays are irradiated onto a product, a "transmission image" is obtained. If the density of the shadow exceeds the "limit," the X-ray inspection machine will determine it as NG (foreign matter contamination). The limit is set considering the variation in shadow density of normal products, so typically, accurate OK/NG judgments can be made during actual production. However, if the production lot or the condition of the product during transport changes, the density of the shadow in the transmission image can vary significantly, which may lead to incorrect judgments. By appropriately adjusting "noise removal" and "detection limits" on the monitor screen of the X-ray inspection machine, it is possible to maintain detection sensitivity while minimizing incorrect judgments. The following document explains the adjustment methods while referring to actual monitor screens. If you are interested, please feel free to download the PDF.
