Brushless DC Motor EC-i40
High-speed response inner rotor motor ideal for the robotics field that has achieved significant cost reduction.
Maxon Japan Co., Ltd. will significantly reduce the cost of its brushless DC motor EC-i40 product line and begin sales from April 15, 2013. This has been made possible by reviewing production costs and component procurement costs at the Maxon Motor Group's dedicated factory in Korea, which started operations on January 11, 2013. The product line was originally developed to meet the demands of the Japanese robotics market for small, thin, high-power, and high-response actuators. The company claims to hold approximately 50% market share (according to its own research) in the motor market for service robots in Japan, and aims to strengthen sales not only in the service robot market but also in the industrial robot market with the introduction of this product line. Initially, the launch will start with two types of EC-i40 motors, 50W and 70W, along with compatible gearheads (reducers) and encoders, but there are plans to expand the product line in the future.
