Chrome plating is often used primarily for decorative purposes, and its deep silver color tone is utilized as a final finish for various parts. According to JIS, hard chrome is defined as having a Vickers hardness of HV700 or higher, but in practice, it is generally determined that if the film thickness is about 2µ or more, it is industrial chrome plating, and if it is less than that, it is decorative chrome plating.
