The pre-treatment method for arsenic specified in the industrial wastewater testing method (JIS K 0102) involves complicated reagent addition operations during acid digestion, making it very labor-intensive. Additionally, the use of acid reagents such as nitric acid and sulfuric acid poses exposure risks to humans, making the analysis hazardous. Therefore, using the automated pre-treatment device DEENA2 for acid addition and other processes, we automated the sample pre-treatment for atomic absorption spectrometry, ICP, and ICP/MS. Introducing a case study of Brodisk, which has been adopted by a major chemical materials manufacturer.

This is a project for a major chemical materials manufacturer. At the polyester resin manufacturing plant, there was a blockage of raw material powder and flakes in the raw material hopper, and we were consulted for a solution. We provided guidance on a standard model (Brodie Disk: BD-15) and its layout. However, since the discharge outlet was relatively small for the material properties, we recommended adding a Brodie Disk Mini nearby, leading to the implementation as shown. As a result, it has been operating well, of course. 【Overview】 ■ Hopper diameter: 1000φ ■ Discharge diameter: 100φ ■ Raw material: Powder + flakes (bulk density approximately 0.7) Since the installation location was classified as a Zone 2 hazardous area, we did not use standard controllers.
