Carburizing hardening, carburizing nitriding hardening, bright hardening
An easy-to-understand introduction to carburizing hardening, carburizing nitriding hardening, and bright hardening!
This is an introduction to carburizing quenching conducted by Asahi Heat Treatment Co., Ltd. When carbon steel and low alloy steel are quenched, the hardness obtained is primarily determined by the carbon content, with little influence from the added alloying elements. The higher the carbon content, the greater the quenching hardness; however, if it exceeds 0.85%, the amount of residual austenite during quenching may increase, making it difficult to achieve hardness. Carburizing quenching is applied to low carbon steel materials. For example, even if low carbon steel is quenched, the hardness obtained is around HRC20, but by diffusing carbon from the surface and increasing the surface carbon concentration, hardness of over HRC60 can be achieved. In addition, we also introduce carburizing nitriding quenching and bright quenching. [Features] - Quenching hardness is determined mainly by the carbon content. - The higher the carbon content, the greater the quenching hardness. - Carburizing quenching is applied to low carbon steel materials. - Carbon is diffused using low carbon steel materials. - A method to create materials that are hard on the surface, softer internally, and have toughness. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
